. . .But who says life ought to be restricted to what’s merely important?

There was an agent working for MI5 during World War II called. . .wait for it. . .Mr. P. Wimsey.

True story, I kid you not. P. Wimsey. Is that not awesome or what?

Okay, okay, the awesomeness of this? For those of you who don’t know, Lord Peter Wimsey is a fictional detective featured in a series of novels by Dorothy Sayers (scroll to the top of this page and look at the header quote: Wimsey said that). Fans of Lord Peter keep wishing the blond British aristocrat with the monocle and pendant for discovering dead bodies in the oddest of places was actually real.

Who knows, maybe he was.

Long days and pleasant nights from the Tale-Weaver.

Wait, seriously??? That is SO cool! I wonder if Sayers knew that.

    • Probably not, because MI5 documents were almost completely classified until a few years ago (of course, most are still under wraps :)). But even still, she started writing WImsey books in 1928, and this guy was operating during WWII.
